As Vice President, Mr. Lesser has extensive experience advising companies in dynamic and heavily regulated environments on complex transactions, including corporate finance, venture capital and M&A, commercial operations, governance, regulatory, and general corporate matters. He is responsible for providing general legal advice, and structuring, negotiating, and monitoring investment opportunities.
Before joining NovaQuest, Mr. Lesser spent seven years at Bayer. Most recently, Mr. Lesser was Lead Counsel for Leaps by Bayer, Bayer’s corporate venture capital arm. He was responsible for advising on equity, joint venture, and other strategic investment, divestment, licensing, and collaboration activities across Bayer’s global pharmaceutical, consumer health, and agricultural business units. Previously, Mr. Lesser was Counsel for Bayer’s U.S. agricultural business unit advising on strategic, commercial, and investment matters.
Prior to joining Bayer, Mr. Lesser spent five years at Troutman Sanders LLP, where he represented public and private companies from a variety of industries on > $10 billion in M&A, debt and equity offerings, and other complex business transactions.
Mr. Lesser received his BA in History from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and went on to achieve his JD from the Washington and Lee University School of Law. In addition, Stephen has an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
